It’s Sunday and I wasn’t planning to wash the trailer until Monday or Tuesday, but I got excited and started today.
I was removing leaves from the trailer and noticed the roof really needed a good wash, so that turned into the first job.
There is still a lot to do before I leave. Packing, organizing, getting the truck ready, getting everything set up for work, and probably a bunch of things I haven’t even thought about yet.
Somewhere in all this packing, I still have to get the work side figured out too. The desk is coming with me, after all. I’ll still have work to do, but I’m looking forward to seeing what an ordinary workday feels like with a different view outside.
All my packages came in, so I’m happy about that. I’m probably getting a little overprepared at this point. Replacement bearings and cups, recovery boards, ladders—the list keeps growing.
The bearings are a just-in-case thing. I don’t want to end up stranded on the side of the road, waiting for a mechanic to track down the parts before I can get moving again. I’d rather have them with me and hopefully never need them.
Having the parts doesn’t mean I suddenly know how to fix everything. It just means that if I need help, hopefully we won’t spend half the time waiting for something to show up. I’d be perfectly happy to bring all those spare parts home unused.
I think I’ve been reading too many posts and watching too many YouTube videos about what you need to bring and everything you need to do. Every time I think I’m getting close to ready, I find something else every other RVer says you need.
My wife also told me I might not be able to leave the trailer parked on the road while I’m getting everything ready. Hopefully the neighbors don’t complain before I can get everything packed.
The wash went pretty well, but I’m a little worried about the roof. There are still some brown spots up there even after washing it. I’m not sure yet if it’s just staining or something I need to deal with before the trip.
I’m starting to wonder if there’s a point where you actually feel ready, or if you eventually just have to quit watching videos and go. There’s always another checklist, another thing to inspect, or somebody telling you about something you haven’t bought yet. At some point, I’ll have to decide I’ve done enough homework.
I’m definitely not ready yet, but I’m finally at the point where I’m actually getting ready to go instead of just planning it.
