My workday will remain eight to five Eastern while I’m traveling. Heading west means starting earlier in the local day, and travel will need to fit around those hours.
I’ve worked from Europe for a month or more while keeping Eastern hours, so working away from home is familiar. Living and working from a trailer for an extended trip will be new.
My laptop has a large battery and two additional screens that attach to it. The screens are smaller than the ones at home, but they let me use the setup I’m accustomed to. Extra screens and enough battery capacity were priorities when preparing for the trip.
Starlink will be my main internet connection, with my phone as a backup where there is cell service. I’ve had cell connections drop while working away from home, so I wanted another option before leaving. I’m expecting Starlink to work well where there’s a clear view of the sky, but I’ll find out how it performs during the trip.
A notebook and pen are coming too. I use them to keep track of things I need to remember.
The equipment is ready, and the work hours are set. Once I’ve spent some time using everything from the trailer, I’ll have a better idea of what works and what needs changing. I’ll write about that here on The Desk Out There.
